Welcome to Woodlands House and Cottage in the peaceful north Cumbrian village of Ireby.


A former Victorian rectory, offering licensed bed and breakfast accommodation with many original features and modern comforts, in individually styled rooms. Our accompanying converted stable block offers a self-contained cottage for those seeking a self-catering option.


Seated in just under an acre of grounds it affords stunning views over the northern fells of Cumbria towards Skiddaw, Binsey and the pastures of Caldbeck and Boltongate. Our restaurant, lounge, bar and gardens are open to non-residents too; please see our Dine page for more details.

From our bread rolls to our handmade pastry in savoury tarts and sweeter treats. We make everything from scratch. Moving into the autumn, you'll start to see us using more root vegetables, more apples, pears and brambles and more game meats. Comforting, familiar flavours that delight the senses and warm the soul. Our landscape produces some amazing produce and we make use of it at its peak. It helps with the stewardship of the land, reduces food miles and gives us our farm to fork relationships.
