"Oh the summer time is comin' & the leaves are sweetly bloomin', and the wild mountain thyme grows around the blooming heather..."
...and here at Woodlands the swallows are back and all the birds are making nests. At night the bats are out chasing the flying insects and the stars are beautiful in the clear night skies. The weather has been warm and sunny recently - let's hope it continues and we're in for a good summer! Further afield, the ospreys are back at Bassenthwaite Lake and are believed to have laid 3 eggs which are likely to hatch in June.
May is very busy everywhere in the Lake District - we are full over the Bank Holiday but we do have just a few rooms left mid week. However, June is quieter - it's usually possible to park in Keswick! The baby birds hatch and fledge, the roses start to bloom and it's usually good walking weather. So why not treat yourself to few days break and enjoy the peace and quiet here at Woodlands?
